HGTV Dream Home 2009: Kids' Bathroom Pictures
With a subtle nod to nautical, the kids' bathroom from HGTV Dream Home 2009 makes bubble-bath time a treat.
Red, White and Blue Rules
Clean, simple lines and bright and cheery colors clean up. Kim Myles, host of HGTV's Myles of Style, didn't have to go overboard when decorating the HGTV Dream Home 2009 kids' bathroom. With a few simple rubber duckies, a metal mobile and colors inspired by the kids' bedroom palette, she turned a simple, all-white space into a fun and funky bathtime escape.
Remedy for White
Jolts of color – fire -engine red towels and a Staffordshire striped rug – break up the all-white bathroom, complete with classic subway tile floors.
Circle Style
Suspended from the ceiling, the Winegard Mo-bi-le-o gives the illusion of floating bubbles. The unexpected touch is a practical choice. "The metal mobiles add an element of playfulness that will hold up in a wet environment better than framed art pieces," Kim adds.
Bold and Beautiful
Hints of pale-blue paint show through the bathroom's distressed red mirror. In choosing colorful decor for the kids' rooms, Kim hoped to mirror the home's overall scheme. "This Dream Home is full of fantastic, strong, saturated wall colors from top to bottom," she adds. "I love that each room makes a bold color choice while remaining inviting and classic all at the same time."
Feeling the Blues
Cobalt-blue countertops stand out when paired with crisp white cabinets and streamlined silver hardware.
In Sink
The bathroom sink's teapot-style spigot and widespread handles are easy for little hands to operate.
Shower Power
As kids graduate from bubble baths to showers, they will grow to appreciate the room’s spa-style fixtures, including a massaging hand shower.
