The Campbell Project

This Dallas residence, home to professional golfer Chad Campbell and his wife, Amy, gets "the Donna treatment" with a luxurious upgrade to the home's great room.

A focal point in the great room is the fireplace and surrounding wall niches, but these elements appear lost among the open space and high ceiling.

A magnificent cast-stone fireplace hood, tapestry wall hanging, custom drapes and hand-carved embellishments transform and fill the space, giving it a feeling that is playful and elegant.

The wall niches on each side of the fireplace had been strictly functional, housing ordinary recessed shelving and lower cabinets. With assistance from design specialist Nelson Nelson, Donna reimagined the spaces to create these stunning alcoves, complete with carved surrounds and custom lighting.

In addition to the decorative framing surrounding the wall niches, furniture designer Nelson Nelson created these custom-carved console tables that serve as bases for the statuaries.

Leopard prints, like the one used on these upholstered chairs, are favored by Donna as well as by homeowner Amy Campbell — whose maiden name is Leopard.

Donna utilizes artistic ironwork, custom dining chairs and stylized filigree to give the space a more ornate and welcoming character.

This dining room alcove gets a decorative refresh, as well.

A new wall treatment for the alcove is added, picking up on the color in the filigree ceiling. The framed Mona Lisa reproduction is replaced with original art, and the accent pieces are swapped out for new ones to better augment the space.
