Master Bathroom Splendor

Stacy and Jaime are a young couple who are tired of living with their old bathroom. The space is large but cramped, the vanity is too low, and their shower is tiny and made of plastic. They want a better layout and to get the room out of the 1970's. Stacy is nervous about the use of color, so Genevieve takes on the challenge of creating something bold that Stacy can live with. The team tears down walls, builds more storage and finds unique wood seating. Going outside of the box, Genevieve uses a stained wood floor in the bathroom, rather than traditional tile, saving the tile for a bold statement on the wall. Not only does Genevieve create a spacious bathroom for Jaime and Stacy, but she opens up their eyes to an array of new design possibilities.

Season 5, Episode 2

Genevieve Combines Styles to Create an Amazing Home Office

Homeowners Meg and Keith do most of their work from the office space in their home. The room is tiny, there is only one desk, and exposed cords are everywhere. Not only do they have a limited amount of space, but they have two extremely different styles. Keith's is approach is more earthy and natural and Meg's is more sophisticated. Genevieve must combine their design differences and and create a space that works for both of them. Genevieve ends up not using Keith's actual hunting trophies, finding a unique way to create a similar feel. She also creates lateral files that will be made to look like flat files and a beautiful textured wood accent wall. In the end, Meg and Keith finally feel comfortable in their home office.

Season 5, Episode 3

A Cool Tween Hangout

Kate is a nine year old girl dealing with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. Through the Make-A-Wish foundation, Kate has reached out to Genevieve for help. She's a nine year old girl with the bedroom of a five year old and her with is for Genevieve to design a room that feels more age appropriate. The bedroom has too much pink and the layout makes it hard for her to have friends over for a sleepover. Genevieve, inspired by Kate's love of Dylan's Candy Bar, plans to give the room a color makeover. A snack bar and peace signs will give the room a fun feeling, while a new loft bed and cozy chair give the bedroom the transitional feeling that Kate is looking for.

Season 5, Episode 4

Penthouse for Newlyweds

After their recent wedding, New York television personalities Jodi and Michael need to find a way to marry their two distinct styles. She's more Connecticut country, he's more urban modern. They've asked Genevieve to create a living and dining area in their penthouse apartment that can make both of them happy. It's a challenge to convince Michael to give up his bachelor favorites, but Genevieve's ready to take on the challenge. Not only is she planning to push the envelope with the new living room furniture, but she's creating a unique and colorful dining room set! Genevieve designs the perfect space that manages to make everybody happy.

Season 5, Episode 5

Soothing Urban Deck

Ezra and Esty have high hopes for their outdoor space, but this urban deck has seen better days. One of the walls has exposed barbed wire, the furniture is outdated and the family needs a structure to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. Esty would also love a space that her three children could enjoy playing in. Genevieve's design plan is to create the structure they need, but also design a soothing urban getaway that can be enjoyed by the family year round. By installing a living wall, laying down faux grass, and accenting the space with chic outdoor furniture, Genevieve takes full advantage of this unique, urban outdoor area.

Season 5, Episode 6

Enchanted Living Room

After years on tour, Betsey is ready to spend some time at home. She's bought her first apartment, but the living room is populated by hand-me-down furniture that feels awkward and poorly arranged. Betsey might be a performer on Broadway, but she wants a space that feels down to earth. She likes the use of color, but can't seem to decide which ones work best for her. Inspired by a knitted blanket from Betsey's grandmother, Genevieve plans to spice up the living room with handcrafted accents. A specially designed chandelier, a stenciled wall pattern, and a one of a kind side chair give the living room a unique touch and the cozy feeling Betsey will want to come home to.

Season 5, Episode 7

Modern Meets Vintage Playroom

Taryn and Mike's downstairs room is a mishmash of a space and they aren't sure how to deal with it. They want to use it as a playroom for their children, but one wall is taken up by Mike's bookshelf, the toys are hard for the kids to reach, and there isn't a comfortable place for the kids to play and the adults to sit. The room needs definition. For inspiration, Genevieve is reaching back to the past to emulate turn of the century sensibilities, giving the playroom a general store feel. Building an indoor playhouse with a classic Victorian look, adding a chalk board wall, and using a colorful braided rug will achieve the vintage look she's going for. Picture frame wallpaper with family photos in the frames and rocks for climbing will add a modern touch and give this new playroom some extra punch.

Season 5, Episode 8

Everyday Luxe

Stacey and Diane have run out of ideas on what to do with their small, lower Manhattan apartment. The living area has to function as a work space for Diane, a place to hang out for Stacey, and a dining room as well. On top of the lack of space, Stacey and Diane lack definition in style. Genevieve must update the room by giving it a sense of style, while creating a room that can still serve its multitude of roles! Her plan to create a cloth wall hits a major hitch, but she manages to persevere, bringing new light to the room, defining the space with a custom work area maximizing every inch of the living room to create a functional area for all of Stacey and Diane's needs.

Season 5, Episode 9

Bedroom Extravaganza

Peter and Kelly have a spacious, beautiful new home but with the time they both spend at work, they haven't given the house any attention at all. Of all the rooms, the bedroom needs the most work. It's functional, but that's it. The bed is too low to the floor, the celings are high, and the walls are bare and beige. It totally lacks personality. Genevieve is going to get the room to live up to its potential by taking advantage of the high ceilings with geometrically unique shelving. A stunning headboard and textured wall will help give the space some much needed life. When she's done, Pete and Kelly will have a bedroom that they want to go to at the end of their long days.

Season 5, Episode 10

Sensational Sundeck

Pat and David have two new babies, work long hours, and moved from the city to a very rural home. They have a 30 foot deck overlooking a pool that lacks definition. They know the space is being under utilized, but they need Genevieve to get them pointed in the right direction. Using the mediterranian as her influence, Genevieve wants to bring the fuchsias, whites, and blues of the Greek islands to rural New Jersey, breathing new life into the deck. She pushes Pat and David to go outside of their comfort zone by designing a multi-colored cloth wall that will surround the decks perimeter. Zoning the space with specific dining and lounging areas helps put the finishing touches on a very unique outdoor living space.

Season 5, Episode 11

Minimum Space, Maximum Bath

Rob and Amy are living in their first home and they have never been part of a renovation, but that's about to change. The master bath is small, poorly designed, and in desperate need of a facelift. Amy and Rob want to get rid of the blue carpet, the avacado wall tile, and open up the space by taking down some walls and creating a bigger shower. Genevieve takes their wishes a step further by designing a vanity for two, removing an old soffit to give the room more height, and transforming ordinary tile into unique patterns. Genevieve's biggest challenge with the bathroom is dealing with nervous homeowners and a huge delay in getting permits from the town. An in shower storage shelf, a more functional layout, and beautiful new vanity make the bathroom worth the wait.

Season 5, Episode 12

Decked Out Great Room

Chrissy is a first time homeowner with a big problem. She totally lacks design confidence. That leaves her spacious home nearly empty, devoid of personality, and Chrissy feeling like a small person in a giant house. She's ready for the house to feel more like a home with style, but she has no idea where to begin. To get the living room to where Chrissy wants it to go, Genevieve will need to take away Chrissy's design fears and get her to step outside of the neutral box she's been living in. A trial and error shopping trip creates a bump in the road, but Genevieve is up to the challenge. Giving an old sofa new flare, brightening up the room with new flooring, and decking out a boring fireplace are just a few of the design tricks that Genevieve has up her sleeve to cure Chrissy of her design phobia.

Season 5, Episode 13

Grand Kitchen

Homeowners Mark and Erica are in the process of renovating a brownstone home and the entire space is a construction site. Now that the major work is done, they're ready to start on the first room to be designed - the kitchen. With two young children and a third on the way, they want a space that can accommodate the growing family and has the feeling of warmth a kitchen should have. Using marble instead of granite, Genevieve will design a magnificent kitchen island that can be used by the whole family. To give the kitchen some flare, Genevieve reaches into the cultures of the Middle East and of Norway to tie together the floor and the ceiling in a brand new way.
