Historic North Carolina Farmhouse

This home stands on a wooded berm overlooking the sound, steeped in myth and legacy. After a fire in the mid-1800s and generations of ill-conceived repairs, the house had lost much of its original spirit. Tongue and Groove was tasked to reimagine Shandy Hall with integrity — restoring its dignity while introducing modern livability and craftsmanship. The new design honors the old with a symmetrical façade, deep porches, a metal roof and classic proportions, all framed by towering live oaks draped in Spanish moss. Inside, the home is entirely restructured to support contemporary life while retaining a sense of permanence and storytelling. Every detail, from millwork to materials, reflects a reverence for the past and a commitment to a new legacy - one rooted in resilience, respect and Southern grace.
