This house had a previously neutral exterior, but the family wanted the exterior of their house to match the traditional look of the interior, so they had cedar shingles added to give the house some color. They also added beefy wood trim to really make the angles of the house pop against the dark cedar shingles and the green of the parterre garden. 

It was important to this family that they have a space in their home to host their quilting lessons, so the kitchen was designed with that in mind. The oversized kitchen island made the perfect space for that, but they needed a durable material for the countertops. Enter Bubinga wood, an African hardwood that is not only beautiful, but also extremely durable. This kitchen countertop is cut from a slab of Bubinga wood that is three inches thick, making it plenty durable to sustain the wear and tear of beginning quilters.

One of the best things about this kitchen is its view of Puget Sound. To maximize this feature, a wraparound window bank was installed to enhance the family's enjoyment of the beautiful scenery. Not only do the windows give the family a great view of the ocean from their kitchen, they also let in tons of natural light, which gives the space the feeling of having the ocean right at its doorstep.

The family had a great collection of blue-and-white Transferware that they wanted to incorporate into the design of their new kitchen, so display shelves were added to display these beautiful dishes.

This space was designed with quilting in mind. The family that owns this house teaches a quilting class, so the countertop of the kitchen island had to be both elegant and durable. It was constructed from Bubinga wood, which can stand up to any beginning quilter. The oversized kitchen island provides seating for students to sit and work, while still maintaining a view of their teachers, peers and beautiful Puget Sound, which provides serenity and inspiration for the family and the quilters.

Hand-hewn wood trusses add a rustic note to this relaxing coastal bedroom. French doors open to a deck with expansive views of Puget Sound, while a neutral color scheme keeps the room feeling spacious and calm.

A freestanding tub is highlighted by a classic chandelier and turret windows in this traditional bathroom. Separate vanities provide plenty of space to get ready in the morning rush.

Similar window details unite the addition with the original structure at this coastal home. The stone fire pit and patio create an outdoor gathering space perfect for entertaining.

Multicolored mosaic tile and fountains turn this swimming pool into an outdoor retreat. The poolhouse uses similar exterior elements as the main house, tying the architecture of the structures together.

The owners of this home like to relax by their pool and wanted to emphasize the view of Puget Sound. The designer selected an infinity-edge design to pull the eye toward the horizon and provide a constant sound of falling water.
