Gothic Cottage With Clover Windows

When approached to design a unique home for a couple in Unionvale, N.Y., architect Daniel Contelmo knew that a modern exterior wouldn't be suitable. So he settled on a cottage design that included steeply pitched roofs and clover windows reminiscent of Carpenter Gothic style. These details create a striking contrast to the home's pastoral surroundings.

Paneled Country Master Bedroom

The overarching design goal for this master bedroom: Create a space that's calm and serene. Whitewashed paneled walls do the job nicely.

Cottage Master Bathroom With Vaulted Ceiling

To create the feeling of a sloped ceiling in this master bathroom, the paneling on the edges was angled and rafters installed.

Vertical pine paneling visually helps to heighten the ceiling of this master bathroom. The light palette lets sunlight bounce around the space.

Vanity With Marble Countertop

Thick marble makes an elegant topping for this master bathroom vanity. The room's varied textures—wood, marble, tile—work together because of their similar color palette.
