Front Porch With Pop of Red
With a polished concrete porch, stylish sconces and a chic black door, this beach home in Encinitas, Calif., makes a great first impression on visitors. Red rocking chairs add a pop of color to the space, as well as give the owners room to watch their young daughter play.
Warm, Family-Friendly Foyer
Designer Corine Maggio used a Dutch door to fill the foyer with natural light while keeping the couple's child safely inside. To the left, a wooden bench and matching coat rack help personal items stay organized.
Living Room With Farmhouse Feel
Four wood beams overhead continue that farmhouse feel into the living room. Thanks to double doors that open to the backyard, the owners and their guests can enjoy ocean breezes from the comfort of the sectional.
Leather Armchair for Extra Seating
In the corner, a warm leather armchair serves as an extra seat for visitors. A reclaimed wood coffee table completes the space and keeps drinks in reach.
Colorful Art, Comfortable Furnishings
Abstract art not only enlivens the walls, but also serves as the foundation for the room's color palette. Drawing inspiration from the painting's blue brushstrokes, designer Corine Maggio outfitted the neutral space with a bright blue area rug and throw pillows.
Dining Table With Wood Bench
After catching up in the living room, the owners and their friends can head into the kitchen for dinner and drinks. A long table with a wood bench lends itself to large, family-style meals and casual conversation, while a chandelier draws attention to the vaulted ceiling.
Built-In Bar With Gray Cabinets
As a nod to the brewery where her clients work, designer Corine Maggio outfitted the bar area with a custom tap. The orange pulls offer a fun pop of color.
Stylish and Versatile Sitting Area
Knowing how much her clients love to entertain, Maggio made sure that the dining area had versatile seating options. Thus, two armchairs can be used as a breakfast nook or as extra seats at the owners' next gathering. Meanwhile, seafoam green curtains nod to the home's coastal location.
Kitchen Includes Large Island
Once dark and outdated, this open kitchen now features vaulted ceilings, bright white cabinets and stainless appliances. A large island increases the kitchen's functionality by providing room for meal prep and serving trays, or giving the owners more seats for guests.
Cabinets With Seafoam Backsplash
A closer look at the cabinets reveals a gorgeous, seafoam green backsplash made from fireclay tile. Thanks to its glossfy finish, this feature catches the light like the ocean's surface.
Laundry Room With Open Shelves
That backsplash curves around the corner and continues into the laundry room. Here, a stackable washer and dryer save space, while open shelves give the owners easy access to detergent, dryer sheets and towels.
Black Beams Cross Vaulted Ceiling
The second floor features spectacular views of the vaulted ceilings, which were created in collaboration with a local architect. Black beams offer a modern touch and tie together the railings in the kitchen and living room.
Guest Bath Off Hallway
When they need to freshen up, guests can head upstairs to this beautiful spare bathroom. Glass lights and a long mirror provide plenty of light, while a wood vanity stores everyday items.
Shower With Fish Scale Tile
Scalloped tiles in the shower easily evoke thoughts of a mermaid's tail. At the same time, the room's white and blue color palette ensures that it's cohesive with the rest of the house.
Chic Black-and-White Master Suite
Black and white isn't just a classic color combination; it's also a great, gender-neutral option for the master bedroom. In this suite, designer Corine Maggio softened the bed with white linens, then used a black headboard and dresser to add a little bit of drama.
Master Bath With Graphic Floor
With his-and-her sinks and sleek sconces, the master bathrom makes morning rituals like shaving and applying makeup easier than ever. The graphic tile floor is especially eye-catching and echoes the colors in the adjacent suite.
Kids' Bath With Coastal Touches
With a wave-like shower curtain and pom pom-trimmed mat, this kids' bathroom definitely makes a splash. Magnets on the wall help the little ones practice their ABCs while they're in the tub.
Sand Dollar-Inspired Wallpaper
What kid-friendly space would be complete without a fun graphic? This blue-and-white wallpaper not only adds energy to the room, but also boasts a sand dollar design that fits the beachy theme perfectly.
