Grand Nashville Home With a Timeless and Traditional Style

This traditional, neutral home wasn’t problematic, per se, but it also wasn’t especially exciting. With bold washes of white paint and a paler, more luxurious palette — plus an utterly showstopping emerald green study — it’s now spa-like and utterly spectacular.

Architectural Interest in Stately Living Room

This gorgeous living room is swaddled in architectural interest, from the coffered ceiling and elegant millwork to the distinctive cast concrete fireplace and the pair of French doors topped with clerestory windows. Antique wing chairs in pale blue velvet join two soft-white sofas for a dignified gathering by the majestic hearth. The white candle chandelier offers a contemporary take on classic lines.

BEFORE: Living Room

The living room before redesign lacked cohesion, with a variety of styles competing for the spotlight.

Living in Refinement in Soft, Light-Filled Living Room

A serene seascape displayed atop the cast-concrete fireplace lends both an Old World aesthetic and inspiration in texture and color to this stately living space. A pair of French doors with fanlights and clerestory windows create a tranquil sea of light, a resplendent backdrop to a room swimming in refinement.

Cast Concrete Fireplace Adds Artistic Touch in Tasteful Living Room

The cast fireplace has a brushed appearance, a befitting frame and easel for the soft oil seascape it exhibits. A black-and-white floral print fabric with soft pink accents is chosen for the understated fireside bench with nailhead trim and the down-filled throw pillows adorn a tasteful white sofa.

BEFORE: Formal Dining Room

The formal dining room before redesign was defined by the taupe walls and ceiling and the white molding and architectural elements.

Dark Dining Table's Chairs Are Graceful in Gray

The formal dining room is redefined in classic white, allowing the rich, dark tones in the antique sideboard, dining table and dining chair legs to balance the act. An elegant mirror and graceful contemporary chandelier contribute a touch of metallic sparkle. Natural colors are used for the fabrics in the room.

BEFORE: Kitchen

The kitchen before redesign lacked balance and personality.

Classically Designed Kitchen With Modern Lines

The expansive kitchen now has enormous personality with the designers staying true to tradition while using their minimalist palette to dramatic effect. A pair of metallic pendants overlook an oversized island, topped in polished gray marble. White bamboo stools feature gray cushions. Black doors break up the white walls and the attractive range hood in black and gold is reminiscent of feminine lines found in other architectural detail around the home.

Metal Accents in Kitchen Contribute Charisma

In recognition of their neighbor, the pair of brass pendants over the beautiful marble island pick up the metallic accent stripes in the range hood and cabinetry hardware to pull the element out into the room. A subway tile backsplash in a gray marble marries beautifully with the grand white cabinetry and black perimeter countertops.

Traditionally Framed Breakfast Area Furnished in Contemporary Style

Stylish black-framed windows and black doors punctuate the white walls and millwork in traditional style, and the breakfast area's dining suite offers a touch of the contemporary with a dark, square leg dining table and upholstered chairs in white and gray. A beautiful brass chandelier nods to both classic and contemporary sensibilities.

Casual Den Doubles as Tasteful Solarium

A pair of russet leather armchairs sit in comfort and style in the den. Warm hand-hewn exposed beams are supported by white bead board ceiling and white walls to reflect the copious light from floor-to-ceiling, black-framed windows. A brick fireplace ensures this den is the spot for wine and games with friends, or coffee and a favorite book.

BEFORE: Formal Study

The formal study before redesign wasn't distinctive.

Formal Study Enchanted in Forest Green

A gorgeous forest green on the walls, fireplace and ceiling of the formal study offers a distinguished chamber for intellectual pursuits. The metallic detail of the brass chandelier and circular mirror and the glossy patina of the piano and the green leather ottoman add elegance and shimmer in the soft afternoon light.

Snow White Armchairs in the Forest Green Study

A pair of white armchairs with dark floral accent pillows command the forest green fireplace and built-in bookcases, inviting serious consideration in serene surrounds.

BEFORE: Primary Bedroom

The primary bedroom before redesign had scale but no softness.

Redesigned Primary Bedroom Is Modestly Elegant

The primary bedroom is reimagined in grace and taste. The walls and tray ceiling are the softest of green and encased in traditional white millwork. A midcentury glass-and-brass chandelier uses a traditional white ceiling medallion. Sheer flowing curtains cannot contain the copious sunlight from the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Classic Foundations and Modern Details in Graceful Primary Bedroom

A pair of simple armchairs in natural white slipcovers are in causal counterpoint to the dramatic glass-and-brass chandelier in the primary bedroom. A traditional four-poster in dark wood is trimmed in white and gray linens. The designers have forged sleeping quarters both handsome and restful.
