7 Wonders of the World: Our Favorite Collections

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World are considered to be the most impressive manmade structures from the Classical era. Of these wonders, only the Great Pyramids of Giza are still in existence. The sites of other wonders, such as the Temple of Artemis and Mausoleum at Halicarnassus can be visited today, though the locations of other ancient wonders are unknown.

More than 100 million people voted to choose the New Seven Wonders of the World. One chosen location was Chichen Itza, the ancient Mayan city located in modern-day Mexico seen here. Other sites include the Great Wall of China, the Colosseum in Rome, Machu Picchu in Peru, the Taj Mahal in India and the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil.

Though many spots in the United States could qualify as a top natural wonder, our favorites include the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Niagra Falls, the redwoods and giant sequoias of California, Denali and Mammoth Cave.

These wonders are marvels of engineering and design and works of pure genius and include Mount Rushmore, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building, the Golden Gate Bridge, Hoover Dam, the Space Needle and the Washington Monument.

From the Cliffs of Moher to Giant's Causeway, Ireland is full of awe-inspiring natural wonders. Other favorites are the Ring of Gullion, the Burren, Slieve League, Croagh Patrick and Carrantouhill.
