The tech industry reached new heights in 2020 and the Realtor.com economics team predicted tech hub cities will continue to grow and thrive in the coming year. Their real estate experts determined their top-10 housing market predictions for 2022 by examining tech hubs with strong job markets, considering affordable alternative cities over popular metros, and state capitals that offer buyers more bang (read: square footage) for their buck.
10. Tampa Metro Area
Tampa's scenic Bayshore Boulevard is a popular spot for walking and running. Compared to pricey cities like New York, where average home prices are 600K+, in the Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater area you can enjoy no state income taxes and home prices that average $348,849.
9. Worcester, Massachusetts, Metro Area
Historic downtown Worcester, Massachusetts, oozes New England charm. The metro area of Worcester, Massachussetts-Connecticut has had an 8.4% year-over-year rise in home sales in 2022.
8. Seattle Metro Area
The Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue area have seen a 9.6% year-over-year growth in home sales in 2022, according to Realtor.com.
7. Greenville, South Carolina, Metro Area
Nestled into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Greenville, South Carolina, is known for natural beauty and captivating Southern charm. And the Greenville-Anderson-Mauldin, South Carolina, area has seen an 11.4% year-over-year rise in home sales in 2022.

6. Providence Metro Area
The Providence-Warwick area in Rhode Island and Massachusetts is rich in history, has a flourishing, creative food scene and close proximity to outdoor adventure. The area has also seen a 8.1% year-over-year rise in home sales in 2022.
5. Columbus, Ohio
Beautiful Columbus is the capital of Ohio and the largest city of Franklin County. Columbus has had a 13.7% year-over-year growth in home sales in 2022.
4. Indianapolis Metro Area
Racing may be big in Indianapolis, but so is cycling, especially along the 26-mile Monon Trail. This popular trail cuts north to south through the city. The Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson, area has seen a 14.8% growth in home sales in 2022.
3. Spokane Metro Area
The outdoorsy, riverfront district of Spokane-Spokane Valley has had a 12.8% rise in home sales year-over-year in 2022.

The midsize Western city of Boise is one of the fastest growing cities in the US, especially among millennials, according to a 2019 report on Livability.
1. Salt Lake City
Also ranked the ninth most sustainable city in the US, Salt Lake City is ranked fifth in the country for having the most alternative-fuel stations per 100,000 residents. Salt Lake City has had a 15.2% year-over-year increase in home sales in 2022.
