Gather Your Supplies
For this craft you will need: small evergreen trees/ 28 ounce cans/ hammer/ nail/ upholstery jute webbing (3 1/2 inches wide)/ garden twine/ potting soil/ scissors/ moss
Prepare the Cans
Remove the labels from the cans. Wash and dry them.
Hammer and Nail
With the hammer and nail, create holes in the bottom of each can.
Drainage Holes
These holes will serve as drainage during watering.
Plant the Trees
Plant the trees in the cans. Add extra potting soil as necessary.
Measure Around
Cut a length of upholstery jute webbing to fit around the can and overlap the opposite edge by one inch.
Add a Bow
Cut a length of garden twine and tie it around the center of the can in a bow. Optional: You can apply hot glue to help with upholstery jute webbing adhere.
Add Moss
Add a bit of moss around the base of each tree to complete the look and help slow the drying of the soil between waterings.
Line Them Up
Arrange them on your holiday table top or along the mantel. It's a wonderful way to bring the outdoors in this season.
Protect Surfaces
Small, round terracotta saucers can be placed under the cans after watering to protect surfaces.
Blending In
These dark-colored terracotta saucers are perfect for blending in with the overall design.
Topiary Care
Water your topiaries regularly to prevent them from drying out indoors. Transfer them to the garden in the spring.
