While not a fussy affair, this is a bridal shower — think white, white, white and a touch of "something blue" when it comes to your decorations. If you don't own white plates and linens, consider renting some for the event; rentals are surprisingly affordable. On the table, opt for stems of full-blossomed flowers like hydrangea, roses or peonies tucked into individual vases for a centerpiece that doubles as favors for the guests. Delicate ribbon details give the table its finishing feminine touches.

Create Fresh Flower Arrangements

Instead of one big arrangement, opt for groupings of small vases. Your guests can take them home as favors at the end of the party.

Make Simple Drink Tags

A sweet and simple way to mark places at the table (and identify glasses) is to tie a pretty tag to each glass with the guest's name marked on it.

Add Sweet Accents to Place Settings

Plain white dishes and linens are an easy choice — dress up each place setting by tying a bow around each dish. While this is a casual affair, it's also a special day, so break out the silver when you set the table.

Opt for a Lush But Light Meal

For the shower's menu, keep things simple and reasonably healthy, since many women watch what they eat in the months leading up to their big day. However, do provide some treats so the guest of honor feels like she is pampered. A frittata with tomatoes, chanterelle mushrooms and fresh chives is light and healthy, while spinach salad with Granny Smith apples and shallots gets just a touch of richness from a few strips of crumbled bacon. Cheddar, bacon and onion scones, however, are pure indulgence. For dessert, serve seasonal fruit in a new way, like strawberries soaked in balsamic vinegar. Whip up store-bought vanilla cupcakes, and pair with amaretto-infused coffee.

Dress Up Sweets

Nothing's sweeter than a vanilla-on-vanilla cupcake. Turn these tiny cakes into a piece of the party's decor with a cute cupcake stand and homemade paper flags.

Make It Personal

A traditional shower would bestow the bride-to-be with kitchen wares and gifts from the registry, but for this smaller, more intimate gathering, consider asking guests to bring gifts to pamper the bride, like a gift certificate to a spa, lingerie, bath and body products or even a pair of sunglasses to wear on her honeymoon. Another way to make the event more personal is to ask each guest to write the bride-to-be a letter for the bride to read on the night before her wedding. This is a time when brides will be grateful to have a collection of words of encouragement and comfort from her dearest friends.
