Chic Remodeled Cottage

Wood paneling, a closed-off kitchen and mismatched furniture made this cottage look more shabby than chic. So, designer Connie Vernich opened the floor plan, introduced crisp white shiplap and then pulled in contemporary furniture and black-and-white patterned accents. The result is a space that feels fresh and fabulous.

Black and White Stripes are Catchy and Fun

Black and white stripe patterns in the rug, draperies and artwork are very eye-catching in this white, shiplapped living room. A bright green upholstered bench and matching pillows accent the greenery in the room and add yet another punch of color.

Living Room Features Black Patio Doors

Black patio doors pull the eye toward the brighter green bench, plants and pillows. The architecture of the door almost fades away, drawing attention to the outdoors. Black stripes from the rug and artwork and the simple metal light fixture add to the effect.
