Allen at one point worked at the Beekman's original Queen Ann building, once home to publishing houses and lawyers' offices. Wall of Authors

Gilded Age elements that evoke the Beekman's 1881 origins are on display in the lobby cocktail lounge flanked by a portrait of novelist Edgar Allen Poe, on the left, as well as a number of other writers. Metal topped tables in the space, leather club chairs and Oriental carpets boast a patina of wear, another feature of the Heirloom style.
