Designer Jamie Herzlinger chose a metallic paint design on colored wallpaper to create a dramatic look in this contemporary guest bedroom. Designer Erinn Valencich takes a playful approach to designing any space. Her motto: "A sense of fun and a chic sensibility is essential." In this bedroom, she pairs apple green with girly pops of pink for a look that is fresh.

"My clients want bedrooms that are as serene as possible with a retreat-like atmosphere," says designer Eileen Gould. "Colors must be soothing and well blended. Light purples, creams and soft greens are very popular. People are spending more time at home and definitely want comfort."

Fresh flowers are always in style. Designer Erinn Valencich recommends, "never underestimate the power of pink or fuchsia flowers to wake up a room. Even in small doses, they never disappoint."

Designer Trish Beaudet advises turning your bedroom into a hotel suite-like retreat. Her advice, "The master bedroom is more than just a room to sleep in — it's trending toward becoming a home within the home, an all-in-one space where you can complete daily tasks without ever leaving the confines of the bedroom."

Convenient features are a master suite must-have, reports designer Trish Beaudet. "Coffee bars complete with mini refrigerators and espresso machines give new meaning to hotel-style luxury." Designer Erinn Valencich injects a big dose of style with a one-of-a-kind headboard she designed. "Having a custom headboard made is often cheaper than purchasing one readymade," Erinn says. She also designed the bedding based on a high-end pattern her client fell in love with. She says, "The fabric was very expensive, so I used just a few yards of it on the duvet and shams. There are always ways to get creative with fabric."

Comfort is key, according to designer Eileen Gould. Her clients prefer "fabrics that are soft and comfortable. Silks, cottons and natural fibers are popular choices. Custom bedding is a great option as beautiful bedding can be hard to find at retail stores."
