Layered Thanksgiving Place Setting With Pomegranate Place Card

Create a gorgeous place setting using pieces that are rustic and autumnal yet still have a modern edge. Wooden chargers are the perfect anchor for a sleek white dinner plate and bowl while vintage gold flatware adds glitz and natural linen napkins work anytime of the year. Keep in mind that the dinner plate and bowl needn't be from the same set — mixing and matching color and texture adds to the table's organic feel.

Materials Needed:

  • metallic gold spray paint
  • newspaper or canvas
  • real or faux pomegranates
  • card stock cut into small rectangles
  • calligraphy pen or permanent marker

Paint Pomegranates

Protect surface with newspaper or canvas, then coat each pomegranate with a light layer of gold spray paint (Image 1). For a smooth surface, allow paint to fully dry between coats, then spray with another layer of paint. Write each guest's name on card-stock squares, then insert handwritten place card into natural slits at the top of pomegranate (Image 2). Repeat for each place setting.
