Angelo Surmelis is the wildly popular host of Rate My Space, the big budget HGTV makeover series inspired by the phenomenally successful online Rate My Space community.

Since the age of 6, Angelo knew he had a gift for creating and designing innovative spaces. It was at this early age that he started dragging furniture around his parents' Chicago apartment. They tried to stop him for fear that he might hurt himself but quickly realized their apartment looked much better after he got his hands on it — and thus, a career was born!

Angelo has since become one of America's most respected and sought-after designers. He has also established himself as one of the top designers in the motion picture and television industry, with a diverse client list that includes celebrities, entertainment executives, lavish events and television/film projects.

Before moving to HGTV, Angelo launched two design shows, TLC's Clean Sweep and Lifetime's Merge. Clean Sweep ran for six seasons, with Angelo designing more than 120 rooms on that series alone. In addition to Rate My Space on HGTV, Surmelis also hosted and designed four seasons of the series 24 Hour Design. Combined, he has transformed more than 300 rooms.

Angelo has been featured on Summer Showdown for HGTV, My Celebrity Home for the Style Network, Good Day Live, The KTLA Morning Show, CNN and The Tyra Banks Show (among others) and has art-directed shows for film and television, including VH1.

In addition to his television shows, Angelo continues to design spaces and events for his company, one of Los Angeles's premiere design firms, Swell Space.
