Fun and Colorful

A solid wood end table with storage drawers between the armchairs includes a fun oversized vintage-style table clock on top. A large red nautical flag on the wall behind the seating area picks up the other red details in the bedroom, including the red and white cotton throw pillow on one of the armchairs.

White paneled double doors open to the guest bedroom closet with a hanging rod, large woven basket, and upper shelf for extra pillows and other bedroom essentials. The walls inside the closet are painted a dynamic blue color that was also used for other key spaces in this grand three-story home with room-to-room harmony.

Vintage tennis rackets that once belonged to tennis legend and local Newport resident Jimmy Van Alen decorate the wall above the plaid upholstered bed. “I went to one of the antique stores here, and they had some of his racquets taken from his estate,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Local Flavor

Framed blue and white wall art that celebrates Newport sits above the bedroom’s beautiful solid mahogany wood console table. A rustic oval decorative bowl, a trio of white ceramic vases with faux foliage, and a painted model racing boat decorate the top of the table, along with white table lamps with a ceramic base, linen shade and distressed finish.

The white paneled bedroom door opens to the berry-red hallway outside, with the green shared upstairs guest bathroom across the hall. A collection of ten complimentary bold hues was used to give this impressive home major personality.
