Kathy’s name was chosen from more than 94 million entries for the HGTV Dream Home Giveaway^® 2015. Our lucky winner says she “was so amazed” when John Gidding and the HGTV production crew ambushed her Friday at a local restaurant.

Kathy was misled into thinking she was helping to plan the winner ambush for her close friend, Mandy.

“I had never known anyone who’d won something so big, and I was so excited for her,” she explains.

Much to her surprise Kathy was actually planning her own winner ambush with friends and family.

“When Mandy told me I won at the reveal it took me a moment to process it, because we had been under the assumption for a week that Mandy won.”

Kathy is a retired computer programmer, mother of five and grandmother of six. An avid fan of HGTV, she and her husband Steve entered twice daily almost every day of the week.

“We watch every minute of the HGTV Dream Home when it’s revealed on New Year’s Day,” says Kathy. “And every night while we were watching HGTV, my husband and I would both enter online twice. We talked about winning the home every time we entered, but it’s still hard to wrap our heads around the fact we actually won!”

Along with the new Cape Cod-style getaway located on Martha's Vineyard, Kathy's winnings also include a 2015 GMC® Acadia Denali and a $250,000 cash prize provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans. A grand-prize package valued at over $2 million!
