Season 14, Episode 9

Reno Budget Up the Chimney

Busy new parents are settling into family life with their baby daughter, but the townhouse they've been renting just doesn't suit them anymore. They're debating a two-story traditional and a charming ranch in the northern suburbs of California's San Fernando Valley, and once they decide on a home they both like, renovations begin quickly. To make every dollar count in their tight budget, they bring in a designer and a contractor to help make sense of a tricky bathroom layout, and they also tackle a cosmetic kitchen update. Both projects are moving forward until an unexpected chimney problem threatens to send their design plans -- and their renovation budget -- up in smoke.
