Keep Austin Weird (but Cozy)
Computer engineers Caitlin and Cory fell in love with this two-story home in Austin, Texas, outdated flooring and all. But can they manage the extensive renovations on their own or have they bitten off more than they can chew?
Bathroom Break
Renovations are in full swing as Cory hauls in the new tub for the upstairs master bathroom.
BEFORE: Master Bathroom
The master bathroom before renovations had outdated counters, an unattractive slider for the stand-up shower and dark tile that were not going to work for Caitlin and Cory’s dream house.
AFTER: Master Bathroom
In the master bathroom, everything had to go. The stand-up shower was fully gutted and retiled, and the new glass door gives the room a much more modern but classic feel.
AFTER: Master Bathroom
The new clawfoot tub fits perfectly in the window nook, and the updated but vintage-inspired colors and finishings tie the room together.
AFTER: Master Bathroom
The stylish blue cabinets and neutral counters are a far cry from the previous vanity space in Caitlin and Cory’s master bathroom.
BEFORE: Living Room
Tiled floors and a lack of proper lighting made the living room feel cold and uninviting.
AFTER: Living Room
Fresh décor for the new fireplace mantle, updated flooring and a neutral color palette gives the living room the facelift it desperately needed.
AFTER: Living Room
Blue accents, like the curtains and pillows seen here, are consistent throughout much of Caitlin and Cory’s home.
Relaxing Master Retreat
Bonus: New furnishings, like a patterned area rug and colorful curtains, give the master bedroom a calming do-over.
