California Couple

Homeowners Elisabeth and Roger Sheck bought their California home hoping to give it a contemporary makeover.

Inside Out

From the outside, their new home is quaint and unassuming, and after the renovation, the inside is a contemporary masterpiece with state-of-the-art appliances.

During the renovation process, the couple lived in the cluttered garage of their California home, so their newly-renovated home could not be ready fast enough.

First to Go

Since the couple adores modern spaces with clean white furnishings, this dated kitchen was not their idea of home sweet home.

Custom and Contemporary

The new kitchen features gray custom cabinets, new stainless steel appliances and crisp white countertops. Red accents add personality.

Depressing Interior

Another shot of the kitchen before the renovation shows just how dark and cramped the space used to be.

Modern and Metallic

New appliances look brilliant in this state-of-the-art cooking space, and the stainless steel really contributes to the room's sleek design.

Kitchen Functionality

During the renovation, the kitchen was given an entirely new layout that makes it as efficient as it is breathtaking.

Dinner Plans

Definitely a step above constant takeout or meal prep in the garage, this new gas range will make cooking dinner a delight.

Cabinet Color Choice

The dark gray cabinets in the couple's new kitchen offer a sophisticate vibe, while sleek hardware contributes to the industrial-chic look the new homeowners craved.

Taller Tiles

A strip of vertical gray tiles behind the sink breaks up the beige backsplash and leads the eye upward, making the space appear taller.

Splash of Color

Red accents add an easily-changeable hint of color to this mostly-neutral ktichen.

Bright Laundry Room

Just off the kitchen sits a newly-renovated laundry room. A bright orange wall color adds a hint of fun to an area typically designed for function over form.

Interior Sliding Door

When not in use or to quiet the sounds of the washing machine, a custom sliding door separates the kitchen from the laundry room.

Laundry Room Before

Before the makeover, the laundry room was spacious but depressing with dark walls and dated tile flooring.

Captivating Cleaning Space

After the makeover, the orange walls make the laundry room feel like one of the most fun rooms in the house. (A new washer and dryer certainly don't hurt, either.)

Smart Storage

Also inside the laundry room, industrial-style shelving provides ample space for a kitchen pantry.

Living Room Before

The old living room had cluter everywhere and no real style.

Cozy and Relaxing

After the makeover, light gray walls create a calming effect in the space, and a large orange sectional provides comfy and colorful seating for movie nights.

Bathroom Refresh

Gray walls set a lovely backdrop for white trim and the beautiful new flooring in this contemporary bathroom.
