Bringing the Drama

The stylish great room celebrates the amazing views and location of this extraordinary property, with strong architectural elements and a taupe color for the walls and ceiling that creates a cohesive look.

Lounge in Style

The lounge area of the great room includes an L-shaped sectional sofa in a rust tone with bronze legs, paired with a round concrete and wood coffee table and two retro-style armchairs. This enticing space with amazing outdoor views was designed for casual conversation and easy entertaining.

Focal Point Fireplace

The lounge area’s focal point linear gas fireplace is clad in sheet metal that was oxidized and banded, to help give the space an industrial modern touch.

Retro-Style Armchairs

A pair of retro-style leather and wood armchairs with angular solid wood frames in front to the fireplace provide additional seating and add a bit of a sculptural touch to the lounge area.

Layered Rugs

A dark brown, hand-woven sisal area rug with black border was placed under a smaller hand-woven flat weave wool area rug with a Western pattern with blue, orange and rust colors. The rugs add warmth and help delineate the lounge area from surrounding spaces.

Patterned Pillows

The pillows on the two leather and wood armchairs in front of the gas fireplace have a stone washed denim fabric with applique designs that add pattern and casual style to the space.

Fireplace Features

The linear gas fireplace includes a remote for easy operation and an automatic fan that comes on when the set temperature is reached. Multiple flame settings are another nice feature, so you can sit back and enjoy a cozy and warm night at home with family and friends.

Rustic Coffee Table

The lounge area's round coffee table made from concrete features a rustic reclaimed elm wood top that fits the mountain modern style of this lounge area with many Western design details.

Quality Reading

The top of the great room coffee table includes a glass vase with fresh blooms and a collection of books on architecture, cowboy boots, and beautiful icy landscapes from around the world.

Conversation Starter

A locally-made faux moose head on the fireplace wall upholstered in cozy Pendleton blanket fabrics gives the lounge area of the great room a fun conversation starter. The blanket fabrics have patterns with black, brown, gray, and rust tones that coordinate with the color scheme of this curated great room.

Prime Spot

A furry friend enjoys lounging in front of the fireplace, enjoying a great vantage point that includes enticing views of the evergreens, lake and mountain vistas outside.

Dramatic Drapes

This wide view of the great room lounge area shows the custom sheer drapery color-matched to the paint color used for the walls and ceiling. The drapes go from the ceiling line to the floor, to soften the hard edges of the tall windows.

Rustic Lighting

An oversized 24-light bronze shaded chandelier helps diffuse the light helps ground the space, and has a rustic chic equestrian-inspired look that fits this mountain modern style escape.

Reading Time

In addition to the chandelier, the great room lounge area also includes a black metal arched floor lamp with fabric shade placed on one end of the sectional sofa. The floor lamp offers a way to enjoy a good book while spending a leisurely evening by the fire.

Rest a Drink

A circular gray accent table sits on this end of the sectional sofa, offering a spot to rest a book or night cap while enjoying a cozy fire or the tempting outdoor views. A non-matching wooden round accent stool that helps give this space a curated look sits on the other end of the sofa.

Pretty Pillows

A variety of blue, rust and gray throw pillows on the sofa add color, comfort and pattern to this enticing seating area.

Have a Seat

The L-shaped sectional sofa with bronze legs has a sturdy frame and comfortable cushions that encourage guests to sit, relax and enjoy the cozy fireplace or marvelous mountain views outside.

Cohesive Layout

This view from the great room into the open kitchen shows the easy connection between these two key spaces in this mountain modern style retreat.

Enjoy the View

The large bi-fold glass doors with oil-rubbed bronze hinges painted white in the interior of the home allow fresh mountain air inside. The expansive doors flood the great room with lots of natural light and offer a wonderful view of the teal-looking lake, mountains and evergreens that surround the property.

Smooth Transition

The bi-fold glass doors also create a smooth transition between the great room and the exterior of the home, for a true indoor/outdoor experience. An oversized wall mirror with a matted gray metal frame and beveled glass sits above a rustic storage cabinet just to the right of the gas fireplace.

More Storage

A niche just off the great room’s lounge area includes a rustic cabinet for storage of books and decorative accessories, with a collection of classic cowboy hats hanging as art on the wall above.

Fuzzy Bench

Just around the corner from the cabinet in a corridor that separates the great room from the master suite sits this metal bench with fuzzy faux fur top. Oversized art with a custom walnut frame decorates the wall above.

Corridor to Master Suite

This view shows the close location between bench area and cabinet by the corridor off the great room that leads to the home’s impressive master suite, a very warm space with canopy bed made from iron. Both the corridor and the master bedroom are painted the same rich and warm shade of rust for good flow.

Finished Look

A pair of cacti plants with orange pots add a touch of greenery on the cabinet. A horse figurine and assorted coffee table books also decorate the top of the cabinet.

Safe and Secure

The top of the cabinet also includes the base station or “brains” of the home’s top-notch security system, that is twice secured with Wi-Fi and a cellular connection to authorities. The advanced system requires no landline, and includes backup batteries that kick in during blackouts.

Stunning View

This look from the front door of the home shows the show-stopping view visitors enjoy when they first step inside HGTV Dream Home 2019, with both the great room and beauty of nature outside center stage.

Step This Way

Looking from the great room towards the front door of the home, this view highlights the staircase that leads up to the second floor of the home. This view also shows the pair of modern cowhide stools that add extra seating in the lounge area of the great room.

Mini Mudroom

A bench area or “mini mudroom” by the front entrance of the home offers a spot to change and store shoes, as well as handbags, hats and other items needed before heading out the door.

Grab and Go

In addition to storing handbags, hats and shoes, the bench area also provides a spot to drop keys or the garage door opener so they can be easily grabbed before leaving the house.

Organized Space

Hooks on the half wall above the bench keep handbags, hats and jackets organized and within reach, while a tall woven basket offers the perfect storage container for umbrellas.

Rustic Round Planters

The top of a half wall includes a 5-piece steel pot planter set with gold, silver and bronze metallic accents. The corrugated steel planters in an antique finish include charming chalk labels for identifying plants.

Cozy Destination

The alluring lounge area of the great room located right in the center of the home creates a cozy destination spot that still also has a strong connection with the kitchen, dining room and deck outside.
