Punk rock princesses will feel totally at home in this edgy black-and-pink kitchen, designed by Caitlin Murray of Black Lacquer Design. With its black countertops, gold hardware and midcentury fixture, the space is the perfect mix of bold and glamorous.

After parting ways with their beloved Victorian home in San Francisco and relocating to Los Angeles, Caitlin Murray's clients knew they wanted their Craftsman to reflect their Gothic tastes. So Murray created an unexpected, blended design, starting with the living room. Here, lilac ceiling beams and a floral accent wall balance a moody blue velvet sofa and dramatic black area rug.

Because the rest of the room is so neutral, a hot pink accent rug really pops! The owners will love how it softens the hardwood floors, too.

Designer Natalie Myers removed a wall to open up this California kitchen, revealing a ceiling-height window that ushers in loads of natural light. A modern island was added in the renovation and features a waterfall edge and shiplap detail. Four natural wood barstools allow for ample seating and tie in with the white oak cabinetry. Soaring ceilings support rustic-modern pendant lights that add to the room's organic vibe.
