Room With a View
This botanically inspired guest bedroom has a light, airy feel thanks to French doors that open onto a veranda. Designer Sarah Barnard extended the ambiance with a pair of glass-front armoires flanking a window seat. "This room didn't have a proper closet," she says, "so this was our solution for putting one in that didn't look big and ugly." A grid pattern in the glass made of oil-rubbed bronze wire echoes the hardware on the doors, softens the look and takes the focus off the clothes inside.
A Hidden Treasure
This bedside table in the same bedroom by Sarah Barnard has an antique look but is actually new — and it has a winning feature. "What's fantastic about this table is that it has a writing surface that pulls out at the top," she says. "People tend to accumulate things on the top of the nightstand, which renders it unusable. So you just pull out the writing table and you can put a teacup or a book there."
Clean and Simple
A stunning ocean view like this one calls for clean lines in the bedroom. The owners of this home already had the bed frame shown, so designer Sarah Barnard added an upholstered headboard and had this electronic storage console custom-made to match. The room was fairly small, so mounting the console on the wall preserved the illusion of ample floor space.
