Pantry Created from Closet in Contemporary Kitchen

As seen on HGTV's America's Most Desperate Kitchens, a closet at the opposite end of the kitchen was converted into a pantry and is concealed by a custom barn door. The sink remains in the same place, but it the old, lackluster sink was replaced with a stainless steel apron front sink with a brushed finished. All the appliances in the space, including the sink, were upgraded to pro-level appliances, creating a chef's kitchen out of an outdated, cramped space.

Expansive Butcher-Block Countertops in Transitional Kitchen

The kitchen island with its distressed and stained mahogany butcher-block provides a spacious prep area for the avid baking enthusiast and serves double duty for serving and entertaining. The backsplash beneath the upper cabinets is oversized subway tile in white, with white grout.

Open, Industrial Kitchen with Access to Surrounding Rooms

As seen on America's Most Desperate Kitchens, Kitchen Cousins John Colaneri and Anthony Carrino transformed a tiny kitchenette-style space into this impressive and versatile new kitchen with an open feel and free-flowing access to surrounding rooms.

Bright Teal and White Baker's Kitchen

The main countertops are honed Carrara marble for a classic look that's ideally suited to a baker's kitchen. In addition to its elegant appearance, the smooth marble offers a perfect surface for rolling out dough. Bright teal cabinets create a striking contrast and add bold color to the space.

Chic Subway Tile Backsplash in Industrial, Rustic Kitchen

A trio of industrial-style sconces provide task lighting over the kitchen sink and prep area. Black quartz countertops top the muted gray cabinets, while white subway tile creates a contrasting backsplash. Open shelving with wrought iron brackets keep dishes and mugs handy.

Recessed Lighting Illuminates Kitchen With Blue Cabinets and Hanging Wood Baskets

This transitional kitchen remodel features painted blue cabinets paired paired with oak cabinets and a white subway tile backsplash. Custom wood storage baskets decorate a shiplap accent wall, while several stools line the kitchen island, providing a spot for casual dining. Recessed lighting illuminates the space.

Large Island Provides Generous Storage for Open Kitchen

As seen on HGTV's America's Most Desperate Kitchens, designers were able to open up the floor plan to create a larger kitchen space and to add a large island with integrated range and a generous amount of storage space. A pass through window was closed off to convert the old dining room into a bar area with additional storage.

Wood Details are Stained to Complement Contemporary Kitchen Design

The shelves and frames for the custom barn doors in this kitchen have been stained to match the cabinets and the base for the kitchen island. The natural color of the wood is infused with a hint of charcoal to coordinate these details with the cabinets and the gray and white tile floor and wall. As seen on America's Most Desperate Kitchens.

Custom Baking Station in Chef's Kitchen

A custom baking station is a keynote feature in the new kitchen design that incorporates a generous amount of open shelving in a ceruse finish. The prep counter is clad in butcher-block countertop and a continuous waterfall edge wrapping. Cabinet hardware and drawer pulls are polished nickel.

Open Floor Plan Creates a Visually and Physically Connected Entertaining Space

To create a more open space in the common areas of this home, designers of America's Most Desperate Kitchens removed the wall that separated the kitchen and living room areas, visually and physically connecting the space and expanding the home's entertaining space.
