All About John

Stainless Steel Appliances Add Sleek Look in Retro Kitchen

To create a polished look in this remodeled kitchen, designers added a stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and sink. A stainless steel range hood is suspended just above the center of the kitchen island, its geometric design complementing that of the hexagonal tiles. On the back wall above the sink, open shelving creates functional, convenient storage for easy access to dishes.

Exposed Brick and Glass Paneled Cabinets Highlight Farmhouse Design in Kitchen

As seen on America's Most Desperate Kitchens, the original, exposed brick adds color and texture to this kitchen space, while a neutral color palette fills the rest of the space. White lower cabinets with a black quartz countertop provide storage in the space, while glass paneled upper cabinets and a farmhouse sink help the space maintain its vintage feel complemented by the mint green refrigerator and Kitchen Aid mixer.

Cozy Transitional Living Room Full of Light

Prior to the renovation, the fireplace brick was a plain, drab color. Kitchen Cousins Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri painted the brick and the mantel in bright white for a stronger visual impact. The firewood holder is a welded steel box with plates attached at the top and mid-point for structural support. An oversized wall clock is made from reclaimed wood, while a five-piece modular sectional sofa makes for a comfy spot to relax.

Glass Shelving Above Large, Undermount Sink

Above a large, undermount sink, designers John and Anthony installed floating glass shelves to add storage and display space without interrupting the design of the kitchen. As seen on America's Most Desperate Kitchens.

New Design Aspects Give Boundaries to Open, Industrial Kitchen

John and Anthony, of America's Most Desperate Kitchens, designed an open, functional space to meet their needs. To define the boundaries of the new kitchen space, the Kitchen Cousins added a brick wall to separate the kitchen from the living room, a small, informal breakfast bar to separate the dining room and the stove and shelving to separate the space from the home office adjacent to the kitchen.

Fresh Blue and White Kitchen With White Subway Tile Backsplash

This transitional kitchen features painted blue cabinets paired with oak cabinets and marble countertops. A white subway tile backsplash provides a fresh accent for the stainless steel range hood and oven, while wide plank hardwood floors add a finishing touch. Recessed lighting illuminates the space.

Austin Loft-Inspired Kitchen

Kitchen Cousins John Colaneri and Anthony Carrino transformed a tiny kitchenette-style space into this impressive and versatile new kitchen with an open feel and free-flowing access to surrounding rooms. Walls were removed to remedy a confining, maze-like arrangement, and the floor plan for the kitchen as well as surrounding spaces was substantially reconfigured.

Dining Nook with 3D Wall Treatment

The three-dimensional wall tiles in this dining nook are actually made from a recycled byproduct of sugar cane processing. The individual tiles fit together to form a seamless pattern and are easily installed using construction grade double-stick adhesive tape.

Elevated Dining Table Creates Unique Entertaining Space

As seen on America's Most Desperate Kitchens, designers created a unique, contemporary dining space for this couple by elevating their dining table. The table looks similar to a kitchen island, but with no cabinets underneath, the fixture creates a fun piece for the homeowners to use as the central location for their entertaining.

Open, Industrial Kitchen with Access to Surrounding Rooms

As seen on America's Most Desperate Kitchens, Kitchen Cousins John Colaneri and Anthony Carrino transformed a tiny kitchenette-style space into this impressive and versatile new kitchen with an open feel and free-flowing access to surrounding rooms.

Season 1, Episode 7

Industrial Farmhouse

Anthony and John surprise Austin homeowners Josh and Jessica with a plan to remodel their 1940's cramped, drab, dark & dysfunctional kitchen. Hardly updated since it was built, the kitchen is not functional, has no flow and has very little storage for this busy family of 5. The cousins improve flow by removing French doors into a covered porch and adding a wall of cabinets topped with leathered granite, as well as a kitchen island, plenty of prep space and updated stainless steel appliances. The adjoining dining room gains French doors out to the back yard, a pub-height table set upon cabinets, a kids work area, industrial lighting and a wall of storage.
