Holiday Entertaining: Create a Marshmallow Snowstorm

What would the holidays be without a little snow? Tie marshmallows onto fishing line for a magical party decoration kids will love; they can even help assemble then later disassemble (devour!) it.

Materials Needed:

12" embroidery hoop
clear monofilament thread or fishing line
2-3 bags of marshmallows

scissors
ceiling plant hook or wall bracket for hanging

Cut Monofilament Lengths and Attach to Hoop

Determine distance between the top of the embroidery hoop and hanging point, such as a rafter, ceiling hook, plant wall bracket or a light fixture. Add six inches to this measurement then cut three pieces of monofilament to size. Tie the three strands onto an embroidery hoop, spaced evenly, to create a triangle.

Hang Hoop

Gather the monofilament strands together and tie a knot about six inches from the embroidery hoop, ensuring that hoop is as level as possible. Tie the strands' ends to your predetermined hanging point.

Tie Marshmallows Onto Monofilament

Tie a loose knot several inches from stands' end and place a marshmallow in the loop, securing it with a double knot. Continue knotting marshmallows onto the monofilament, leaving approximately two to three inches between them, until you reach your desired length. Create as many strands of "falling snow" as you'd like. Tip: We were able to fit 11 strands onto our 12-inch hoop.
