When it comes to gifts, I enjoy giving and receiving homemade ones the best. I love the attention, affection and detail that goes into creating these beautiful things. Mother's Day is no exception. Since I was little, I have been hand-crafting gifts for my mom. My mother loves to garden. Most warm days, this is where I can find her, outside among her lovingly tended plantings. She especially treasures flowers so this year as one of her gifts, I decided to embellish a cell phone case with lovely pressed pansies to help celebrate her special day.

Supplies:

  • Pressed flowers
  • Plain cell phone case
  • Scissors
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam brush
  • Jewelry resin kit
  • Shoe box
  • Nail polish remover
  • Q-tips
  • Paper towels

Now, follow the steps in the photo gallery below to learn how to make your very own cell phone case.

Gather Supplies

Use pressed flowers, a plain clear cell phone case and Mod Podge to craft this simple cell phone cover for yourself or to give as a gift.

Glue the Flowers

After selecting and arranging the flowers on the case, carefully glue them down with Mod Podge and a foam brush.

Use a Shoebox

Use the lid of an old shoebox for your work space. Place the lid aside: you will need it later.

Mix the Resin

With the supplies and following the directions in the jewelry resin kit, very precisely measure out the resin and hardener. You will need a total of 10 ccs of this mixture to coat one cell phone case.

Apply the Resin

With a craft stick from the jewelry resin kit, start in the center of the case and gently apply the resin little by little, until the back of the cell phone case and flowers are covered. Be sure to gently push the resin to the edges of the case.

Protect From Dust

Gently prop the shoebox over the shoebox lid during the drying process. This keeps dust out of the resin.

Clean the Edges

After drying for approximately 4 hours, inspect and remove any excess resin that has overflowed the edges with Q-tips and nail polish remover. Allow the resin to dry for 24 hours. It takes 3 days more to complete the hardening process.
