Coober Pedy, Australia Underground Town
A remote mining town in the Australian outback called Coober Pedy is located about 22 feet under the Earth's surface. The homes are called dugouts and provide housing for about 1,500 families. You'll also find two churches and a bar in their own dugout spaces. The unique town was built to house opal miners, dating back to 1915.
