Much more than a place to park a car, this detached garage with pool table inside offers a spot for casual get togethers. “The idea is to go ahead and open the detached garage, and be able to just entertain in the front yard as much as you do in the backyard,” says designer Brain Patrick Flynn.

Easy Operation

Located by the door sits the individual switches for each bay in the garage. “This way you can open or close the front garage doors on your way inside the house,” says build manager Scott Branscom.

Comprehensive Storage Unit

The garage’s laminated composite wood storage system includes six drawers for organizing and storing tools, home and garden accessories, craft supplies and more. Kayaks hang on the wall above, which can be used to enjoy the marsh out back. A coral wood cluster sculpture and wood bird figurines that mimic some of the feathered friends you find in the local marsh decorate the top of the storage system.

The garage includes four contemporary-style metal ceiling fans with 23W LED modules offer energy and cost-saving benefits, with blades that have a brushed nickel finish, with remote controls for easy operation.

This wide view inside the garage shows the user-friendly layout, with multiple ceiling fans for keeping the space cool during warm days and nights. The garage also includes framed windows that allow natural light inside and offer views of the surrounding property. Because of the special location of HGTV Dream Home 2020 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, a handy golf cart for getting around the local community was given its own smaller bay in the garage. “This is the first time we’ve made a specific bay for a golf cart,” says build manager Scott Branscom.

More than a traditional golf cart, this all-purpose cart that comes with HGTV Dream Home 2020 includes a premium steering wheel, canopy top, fold-down cargo deck with 400-pound load capacity, LED headlights, taillights, brake lights and more.
