We believe in the wisdom of purity.
We are inspired by uncomplicated, timeless design, yet people often equate modern design with cold, sleek interiors. We think modern design can and should be warm, comfortable and livable.
Our aim is to give clients the comfort of a personal sanctuary created with artful, yet seemingly effortless design. Combining natural materials with a purity of architecture and an eclectic mix of furnishings creates a down-to-earth luxury that balances the extremes of modern life.
Principal Kelly Schandel has built a career designing warm, modern spaces for residential and commercial clients. Known for her innate ability to bring high concept design to modern living, Kelly’s environments evoke a calm, quiet elegance. Clients appreciate her ability to add warmth and layers to a space without over complicating it.
Kelly received a BA in International Studies from Pepperdine Univeristy in Malibu and also attended the American University in Paris. Her aesthetic philosophy began to take shape while working in the fashion industry for Calvin Klein. The world of fashion, combined with travel to Europe and the Far East, refined her appreciation for the simplicity and elegance of warm modernism and functional minimalism.
In 1999 she partnered with designer Abboud Malak and with a shared passion for purity of design, formed Studio Ethos. The duo collaborated on numerous projects, including the award winning bridal boutique Monique Lhuillier in Beverly Hills. Kelly founded thinkpure in 2003 and specializes in residential and commercial environments in the United States and abroad.
