Modern Compound Marked By Butterfly Roofs

Inspired by the natural beauty of the Santa Lucia Preserve, a 20,000-acre private development and land trust near Carmel, Calif., an older couple asked Feldman Architecture to build the retirement home of their dreams and integrate it within this stunning setting. The team delivered 3 pavilions, each topped with an expressive butterfly roof. Though modest in size, these structures expand to the outdoors and treat the owners to views of the canyon.
