Over-the-Door Shoe Racks and Organizers
Over-the-door shoe racks and organizers make use of vertical door space to creatively store shoes.
Closet doors are an often underutilized part of a closet or bedroom, especially when they're only used to hide the mess inside! Over-the-door shoe racks can be an effective way to organize and display shoes while maximizing limited space. There is a wide array of styles and materials, offering options that fit a variety of lifestyles and storage and organization needs.
Hooks that fit over the door generally provide the anchor for these racks. The base and style of racks can vary widely with options available in pockets, wire racks, metal tubing and cubby styles.
The pocket style over-the-door racks are usually large enough to accommodate a pair of shoes for ladies or children but may only fit one shoe per pocket for men's styles. They do prevent dust from accumulating and are available in styles with clear plastic so that you can see the whole shoe. They are terrific for wrangling child-sized shoes and are handy in other rooms of the house for household tools, toys and supplies. Hiding them is super easy; just close the door.
Wire and metal-tubing racks are very efficient and provide air circulation but only display the soles of shoes and can catch dust. Shoes slip and hang over the wire frame and that support helps maintain the shape of the shoe while providing a way to maximize the number of shoes stored in a system.
