Kelly Smith Trimble says, "floral, batik, stripe — for me, it's not just color but pattern that really gives a space a story. There's so much history and character to patterns, and when done right, they can mix well to tell a layered narrative."

While Kelly loves pattern, she's ready to say goodbye to painted white brick. "The trend of painting brick white — from fireplaces to whole home exteriors — has got to go! So many people are choosing white as a default, but it's rarely the best choice. Save yourself the hassle and expense. Most brick should remain unpainted — instead, paint trim to work with the brick's natural tones."

Noelle Paredes says she loves how designers are incorporating more and more antiques into their designs. "Some of us (hint: it’s me) have always gotten a thrill out of finding the perfect vintage item — whether it’s a painting, ornate side table or funky textiles — to give a space that extra charm. But this year we’ve seen more and more designers and influencers calling attention to their secondhand finds, and I’m here for it."
