As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It Too, the greatest discontent for Holly and Chester's home was the number of 'dysfunctional' spaces and long list of outdated fixtures and appliances. Designer Jillian Harris created a more open space by ripping out the wall that divided the kitchen and living space as Holly wanted to be able to see their baby in the living room while she was in the kitchen. Harris put in a large island with white quartz countertops, and lots of new storage. Pot lights were inserted, hardwood floors were put down. The room has all new furniture. A new insert and limestone tile was added to the fireplace. All coverings for the windows are new.
The space that was once a small bedroom made a perfect home office nook. Some much-needed storage cabinets and a stairway to the home's lower level were also built into the area, as seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, Too.
In this open kitchen and dining room, warm wood elements connect the two spaces with their simple lines and earth tones. To balance the stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, cool gray dining chairs were paired with the wood dining table.
As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It Too, the primary challenge for Kevin & Celine's family home was maintaining a balance between the heritage of the house and incorporating a modern design. Designer Jillian Harris bridged the border between modern and historical by choosing a modern version of tile for the backsplash. The originally planned grey slate tiles were set aside with the discovery of the original fir floor boards. A large peninsula created as a gathering place for the family. A deep pantry to the right of the fridge was designed by having to close off a small corridor that was no longer to code.

Nicola and Michael are looking for a space where they can entertain friends and relax with their family. Jillian designed a space that is light, flowing and functional. The windows all around the room allow plenty of light into the space, while the canned lighting in the ceiling helps to add light. The neutral wall color helps to reflect the light, while the grey sofa and its pillows adds color to the space and softens it. The natural beam that crosses the room, the chandelier in the dining room and other wood accents add a rustic flare to the room.
The removal of the wall that separates the kitchen and the living room creates a more open space for dinners and entertaining. The new white kitchen has new non-slip tiles (for the aging dogs), new cabinets, appliances, and lighting, as well as in-floor heating (for the dogs). The kitchen is also surrounded by built in pocket dog doors which allows the homeowners to contain the dogs in a comfortable environment while they are away.
