Cheryl decides to handle a bathroom renovation on her own after searching for the right contractor proves harder than it looks. When the truth comes crashing through her ceiling, Cheryl puts a stop to her DIY reno and is left without a working shower for 5 months. Mike comes to her rescue but soon realizes that she needs a lot more than just a shower. Cheryl is deaf but doesn't have a home that is sign-language friendly, which turns this standard bathroom reno into a breakthrough project for Mike and his team.

There's no foundation, no permits, and no way Mike is leaving without giving Manuel a warm space to fill with new memories. Mike takes it all down to the ground, and for the first time in Holmes history he let's the family play a big role in the rebuild. But before the job's done they'll need to redo a retaining wall, deal with asbestos and Manuel's son, Ben will feel the real pain of a bathroom demo.
