Above-Ground Pool Decks
Dive into the wide array of options for above-ground pool decks.
The relaxation that accompanies lounging poolside on a stylish deck isn't reserved just for those with in-ground pools anymore. Above-ground pool decks are becoming more common these days, and there are many designs to choose from.
Less Is More
Boxwoods anchor the base of the rear porch columns while repeated use of the 2x2 thermal bluestone pavers set with lawn joints forms a grid-like pattern. Having lawn on all sides of the pool and spa helps make the space feel more expansive. Design by Barry Block

Elevated Pool Deck
An extension of HGTV Dream Home's great room and bedroom, this pool deck is elevated 10 feet above ground level and overlooks marsh scenery. The space beneath the deck allows for both a patio and a garage.
Creating an attractive and functional above-ground pool deck starts with choosing a design that suits your style and budget. Many choices are available, from simple, circular styles that wrap around the circumference of the pool to elaborate multi-level designs. For the truly adventurous, above-ground pool decks can even incorporate outdoor kitchens and other popular outdoor living flourishes.
One of the biggest choices you'll need to make regarding your above-ground pool deck is what material to use for the decking surface. Due to the fact that it's likely to have lots of sun exposure and be splashed regularly with chemically treated water, you may want to consider composite lumber or plastic decking. Otherwise, focus on pressure-treated wood, and make sure you provide a high level of maintenance to keep it in good shape.
