Materials Needed

  • galvanized tub
  • 1 roll cheesecloth
  • black craft foam
  • white craft foam
  • scissors
  • glue dots
  • pencil

Cut Out Eyes

On white craft foam, use pencil to draw out a circle, about 3” in diameter (Image 1). Cut out with scissors. Use first circle as a template to trace second white circle (Image 2). Cut out second circle. Repeat this process with black foam, making two circles about 1/2” in diameter. Tip: Trace a drinking glass to create two white circles.

Make Eyes

Stick a glue dot on back of black foam circle and stick onto larger white foam circle (Images 1 and 2). Repeat with second black circle to make second eye. Tip: The position of the pupils is what gives the mummy personality, so place them where it looks best to you.

Stick Eyes to Tub

Attach 3 to 4 glue dots to back of each eye (Image 1) and stick to galvanized tub, positioned together as a pair of eyes (Image 2).

Wrap Tub with Cheesecloth

Unwind cheesecloth from packaging and wrap around tub as many times as possible with two ends meeting at back of tub. Tighten the cheesecloth and tie two ends in a double knot in the back (Image 1). Pull out cheesecloth to cover tub as much as possible. Strategically use additional glue spots to hold cheesecloth in place (Image 2). Tip: Don't cover mummy's eyes so they remain visible (Image 3).

Party On

Fill tub with ice and sodas or adult beverages. When the party's over, just remove the mummy's eyes and bandages to return your tub to its pre-party state.
