Aaron and Noreen Skelly moved into their two-story Colonial the day after their daughter was born. The only problem with the house: the drab family room. With the help of designers Allison Henry and Krista Boersma, the Skellys spice up their space by adding color and comfort to make this family room family-friendly.
They start with a clean slate. An autumn-inspired color palette is the basis for the whole room. A muted yellow paint adds warmth to the walls and the tan industrial-grade carpet is not only durable, but easy on the feet. A plush new sectional replaces the old couch, and for clutter control, an oversized coffee table with large drawers provides plenty of storage for the baby's toys.
