Let's Get Lost

Across the country corn mazes are becoming an increasingly popular fall attraction featuring playful designs and the imaginative repurposing of nature and farmland. Here is a shot from Bergmann’s Corn Maze in Wichita, Kansas that has not yet reached its maximum growth.

Athena's Owl Maze

Believe it or not, this is not a painting or elaborate embroidery but an aerial photograph of Wisconsin's Treinen Farm corn maze from 2014 entitled Athena’s Owl Maze.

When Dinosaurs Roamed the Earth

Corn mazes are especially popular with problem solvers and those who enjoy brain teasers but not everyone enjoys getting lost in a corn field so think twice before you enter one. You might not come out for hours. The folks at the Great Vermont Maze devised this especially tricky, dinosaur-themed corn maze for their 2014 event.

Skiers and Bobsleds

Spread out over 30 acres is Colorado’s longest-running corn maze at Anderson Farms in Erie, Colorado. First launched in 1999, the annual fall attraction changes its theme every year and offers special events like zombie paintball and nighttime rambles through the haunted maze during the Halloween season.

Corn Maze Visionaries

Alan Treinen and Iris Barrow plot out the execution of a new corn maze design created by Angie Lathrop Treinen for their annual fall event in Lodi, Wisconsin.

Larger Than Life Barnyard Animals

Animals are a popular theme in many corn mazes but Farmer J’s Corn Maze in Dundee, Michigan isn’t content to just honor one. Instead they have created a stunning mosaic of farm animals represented by a horse, cow, bull, chicken and pig.

Going Ape

The folks at The Great Vermont Maze put gorillas in their corn field for their 2015 celebration of “15 years of cornfusion.” If you have ever experienced one of their intricate maze designs, then you’ll know what that means.

The Pride of Maryland

The state of Maryland and its flag, black-eyed Susans, a Baltimore Oriole (the state bird) and newly elected Governor Larry Hogan are honored in this intricate corn maze design at Lawyer’s Farm in Thurmont, Maryland.

Gecko Crazy

If you think this Gecko design for the Treinen Farm corn maze is uniquely intricate, just imagine how complicated it would be to try to maneuver your way through its twisting passageways.

Support Your Local Farmer

First launched in 2007 as a way to supplement income in the economic downturn, Echo Valley Corn Maze in Jefferson City, Tennessee has become a popular attraction offering hay rides, pumpkin picking, a petting zoo and other family activities while incorporating a “support the farmer” theme into the 2015 design.

Alien Invasion

Seen from the air most corn mazes look like organic works of art but on the ground they can be delightful though challenging labyrinths for the adventurous like this 2013 design from the Great Vermont Maze in Danville, Vermont.

Maze Cutters at Work

The folks at Treinen Farm in Lodi, Wisconsin use a grid system to plan their design and later mow and till out the trails when the corn is a foot high as pictured here.

A Corny Tribute to the 2015 Stanley Cup Champions

Often advertised as the world’s largest corn maze, Richardson Farm in Spring Grove, Illinois offers five separate maze games within its sprawling 33 acre spread. The 2015 theme is The Chicago Blackhawks, the 2015 Stanley Cup Champions.

Maize Maze

Corn mazes are a wonderful way to educate children about the importance of farming and agriculture while also creating a fun, all-natural playground that stimulates the imagination like this design from Bergmann's Corn Maze

The Fox and the Grapes

The theme for the 2015 Giant Corn Maze at Treinen Farm is from Aesop’s Fables - "The Fox and the Grapes" - while the smaller children’s maze is dedicated to the fable, "The Tortoise and the Hare."
