Dive Into Jungalow Style

Lifestyle guru Justina Blakeney's new book The New Bohemians Handbook, Come Home To Good Vibes was written to empower and guide you through creating a home that supports you, your family and your dreams. The book features practical design tips and solutions as well as crystals, astrology, flower magic, a textile treasury and of course-a whole lotta plants! What is the Junaglow style? Justina says, "it's the unbridled and wild contrasts in colors, vivacious patterns and a variety of layered textures-greens, botanical prints, textile art, sculptural plants, and pops of pink!"

Justina Blakeney: Queen of the Jungalow

Justina Blakeney is a designer and artist, and author of The New York Times best-selling book The New Bohemians. Justina and her design blog, the Jungalow, is the go-to source for bohemian design inspiration. Justina defines her style as the love old things, plants, eccentric people and oddball knick knacks. She is inspired by the colors, textures and patterns in our natural world. She has a passion for vintage textiles and old botanical books. "I love to explore (in my neighborhood and abroad)," says Justina. "I'm always consciously observing and absorbing the world around me."

Draw Inspiration from Your Favorite Locations

Your bathroom should feel simultaneously invigorating and relaxing. Justina's personal bathroom is inspired by the baths she experienced on her travels to Turkey and Morocco. The blue color choice came from a family trip to Lake Tahoe.

Natural Textures

Chanel the spirit of the grasslands with textured woven baskets and subtle colors. Hang baskets on a wall for an earthy art piece.

Mix Patterns

"Pattern mixing is always a good idea," says Justina. Covering surfaces with colorful patterned textiles is the fastest and easiest way to completely transform a piece of furniture or a wall.

Textiles

Textiles are a fast, easy and affordable way to transform a space. Justina mixes color and texture to create a dreamy space perfect for relaxing at the end of the day.

Garden Window

Garden windows aren't just for the kitchen, they can bring life to your bedroom too! Plants are a key element in Justina's signature style.

Add Plants!

Nothing breathes life into a space like plants. A home filled with living and growing energy can support and encourage your own personal growth.

Plant Wall

Bring the outdoors inside by creating a curtain of plants. Place plants in window sills or hang them from curtain rods to create a jungalicious window covering.

Natural Light

Maximizing natural light makes a home healthier, beautiful and more energy efficient. These white cabinets and the glazed backsplash help amplify light and energize the space.

Design for Comfort

What is relaxing to you might not be what is relaxing for someone else. Make sure your home is designed for how you want to feel in the space.

Think Outside

Bring the indoors out. Use elements from your home to create a comfortable louging spot outdoors.
