Classic Farmhouse Christmas

Make your holidays warm and wonderful by making your home more comfortable and welcoming. The good news is, it doesn't have to be fancy and expensive. Farmhouse style is perfectly imperfect, it uses the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi where there is beauty in age, nature and simplicity. Farmhouse style combines non-fussy furnishings with vintage decor (real or reproductions), items found in nature (pinecones, twigs and greenery), and mixes in rustic and primitive items like old baskets, galvanized metal and handmade items. Even if your home’s style leans more modern, you can still sprinkle in touches of farmhouse cozy by using decor full of texture, think white fur throws, natural colors and biophilic items.

First up: Nothing says "country Christmas" quite like greenery garland sourced right from the farm. This beautiful DIY swag was made by tying cypress and pine clippings onto an inexpensive faux garland, then decorated with craft-store berries and oversized burlap bows.

Christmas Countdown

Switch things up and create a rustic advent calendar this year. Instead of taking trinkets out each day, tuck bits of greenery into each drawer. Group other foraged finds from your yard, like acorns or pinecones, around the calendar for a perfectly unpolished look. The finished product is farmhouse-ready, and will turn heads on your console table or entryway.

Playhouse Holiday Escape

A family's backyard playhouse was converted into a festive escape for the holidays with a fresh holly wreath and real, pint-sized Christmas trees placed in old metal milk cans. But the most festive decoration? One cozy pup.
