Mark & Derek are embarking on their first house flip, renovating a 60's ranch style house. The duo only has four weeks to completely remodel the old house, and put it on the market. First, they must tackle the dated kitchen and maze-like floor plan. They'll completely gut the kitchen and tear down the walls separating it from the living room and dining room, creating one large Great Room. With an open concept floor plan, new cabinetry and top of the line appliances in the kitchen, Mark and Derek hope that this space will be a huge selling point to potential buyers.
Mark & Derek take on the next phase of their renovation, working on a dated living room, foyer, and front bathroom. The foyer is dark, cramped and unwelcoming with a low ceiling, and the front bathroom looks like it's right out of a horror movie. The duo will completely open up the foyer and living room by raising the ceiling and adding new large sliding doors to brighten up the space. They'll also work on converting the front bathroom into two separate bathrooms, adding an ensuite bathroom to one of the bedrooms. When they're done, they want an entryway that will wow buyers as soon as they walk in, and a new bathroom that increase the value of the house.
The exterior of Mark & Derek's 60's style house has seen better days. The old stone façade and neglected yard are eyesores. The duo plans to completely replace the stone façade with new siding and stucco, landscape the front and back yard, and address the dangerous trellis out back. Once finished, they expect that the updated exterior will help attract potential buyers.
With their deadline looming, and one week before their open house, Mark & Derek rush to finish the master suite. The dark bedroom needs more natural light, and the master bath looks like its straight out of the 70's with an oversized yellow bath tub. Short on time and money, Mark & Derek need to completely gut the bathroom, and bring the master bedroom and walk-in closet into the 21st century.
