Throwback: Ken and Anita Corsini Are the Ultimate College Sweethearts

The 'Flip or Flop Atlanta' tag team has been flipping since 2005 but melting hearts for decades.

Ever wonder what happened to that love connection you made on campus ages and ages ago? Ken and Anita Corsini don’t—their partnership made it all the way from sneaky phone calls and strawberry shortcake for two to wedding bells, a successful flipping business, an HGTV show and...mysterious texts from the grocery store.

These crazy kids are still going strong, and we can’t get enough of their college romance.

Baby faces, overalls, and athletic shorts at a football game? Check, check and check. As Anita recalls, the magic happened junior year at the University of Georgia, when she was not playing the field, thank you very much.

“Here’s the thing—I did not date a lot. I was one of those girls who was friends with everybody," she said. "I was extremely picky about who I would date. I crushed on a bazillion, but would never really go out with anyone.”

Ken wore her down by grabbing the phone when she called his roommate to talk about their study group, and his charming banter passed the test.

“One of our first dates was to a strawberry patch—I absolutely LOVE strawberries—and I don’t think I have ever laughed so much in my life,” Anita says.

(Did she wear the overalls? We’ll get back to you on that. But we do know they liked to keep things low-key.)

“I didn’t like fancy dates,” Anita recalls. “That was too much pressure. I just wanted someone to hang out with and have a good time, and, oh—share my taste in music. So we did just that.”

They’re still reliving those beloved ‘90s tunes: Here they are, all grown up, on date night at a Toad the Wet Sprocket show.

At the beginning of their journey to wedded bliss, they also got early practice at making the most of humble properties and budgets (and furnishings) that, unbeknownst to them, would become handy during their flipping careers.

“The first place we lived together was for only about 6 months, but it was an apartment and man was it funny,” Anita says. “We were just married, straight out of college, with hardly two nickels to rub together. We were both starting our jobs, so we were living very conservatively, to say the least. We barely had any furniture, but we had a great stereo system, my parents’ old couch that smelled like cat pee, a kitchen table, a bed and a computer.”

These days they’ve graduated to a much-better-smelling couch and make a point of stepping away from the computer. Ken still can’t resist wooing with humor, though: He says he recently used an anonymous texting app to check Anita out at the grocery store.

"I just saw you in Kroger," he wrote in his mystery-man text. "I’m too shy to tell you to your face, but I think you’re gorgeous."

We’re pretty sure she’s on to you, Ken.

Ready for more cute overload? You can see your favorite University of Georgia couple Thursday nights on Flip or Flop Atlanta at 9|8c. We’re hoping those overalls make a comeback.
