Kitchen Cabinet Door Handles and Knobs

It's important to understand your options when it comes to kitchen cabinet door hinges, and there are several.

First up—no snickering—are butt hinges. These hinges are great for many types of traditional cabinet styles. Butt hinges are generally inexpensive, and come in mortised or non-mortised styles.

Next up are concealed or "Euro" hinges. Sporting a sleek look best for full-overlay cabinetry, concealed hinges are strong and fit a 35 mm hole. They're also fully adjustable in three planes and may include a self-closing option.

Lipped hinges are designed for rabbeted doors. Lipped hinges have a visible hinge pin, but they generally suit any style of cabinet.

Surface hinges require a latch to keep doors shut, and they often offer a bit more personality and style than other types of door hinge.

Wraparound hinges are great for particularly heavy doors. They require door and cabinet mortises, and they often require latches.

Self-closing hinges are built with a spring that prevents doors from standing open. They're great for busy cooks and snug spaces.

Finally, adjustable hinges allow for door adjustment—during mounting, the hinge position can be changed before the screw is fastened.
