Spotted Laurel

Spotted laurel, or Aucuba Japonica Crotonifolia, is an evergreen hedge with glossy, thick, dark green leaves with yellow spots and bright red berries from late summer to early spring. It gives color and structure throughout the year.

Ermans Birch Grown for Visual Impact

Ermans birch, Betula ermanii, has a creamy trunk over washed with a glint of copper pink. The large, boldly ribbed green leaves complement the tree in tone and scale. Grow a single elegant speciman or several in landscape for visual impact.

Golden Hop

Golden hop is a spectacular twining climber with bright gold foliage that remains attractive throughout summer. It needs a sunny spot to develop its full color, in shade it is light green. Cover an arch or pergola, but cut back in spring.

Golden Willow

Salix alba, Vitellina or golden willow, produces rich yellow or orange new growth that is strong and vigorous. The strong flexible rods are excellent for basketry, but most outstanding are rich egg-yolk-colored stems providing winter color.

Oriental Sweet Gum

Liquidambar orientalis, or Oriental wweetgum, is a broadly conical, deciduous tree. Star-shaped leaves are followed by mace-like fruit clusters. Plant in full sun for best fall colors. Many homeowners will object to the gum balls.

California Lilac

California lilac, Ceanothus thyrsiflorus, is a beautiful evergreen shrub. Dark cobalt blue buds appear in late spring, opening to covering dense, dark green foliage with deep blue flowers. It makes a good tall hedge, screen or windbreak.

Simple Skimmia

Dark green leaves, plus showy white spring flowers and bright red berries combine to make skimmia an ideal plant for winter shade garden. They are especially nice plants for borders, foundation plantings, or spot color in landscape.

Smoke Bush

Purple smoke bush, Cotinus coggygria, is often used as a garden specimen due to the purple pink plumes and the purple leaves on some cultivars. It is highly drought tolerant.

Lavender Plant

Lavender is a native of the Mediterranean and a lover of dry, sunny, rocky habitats. It is a tough plant and is extremely drought resistant, once established. Lavender is so prized for its fragrant flowers, even when dried.

Boston Ivy Produces Dazzling Fall Display

Parthenocissus tricuspidata, or Boston ivy, is a vigorous, self clinging, deciduous climbing ivy with leaves that turn brilliant crimson and purple in autumn. Sometimes it bears inconspicuous flowers and dull blue berries.

Japanese Maple

The Japanese maple, like all Acers, is grown for its delicate leaves and fall color.

Garden Stature

So fragrant, colorful and carefree, plus a magnet for butterflies, milkweed plant is one of the easiest, most adaptable plants to grow. Lush leaves all summer long, crowding atop very free blooming flowers in a sunny garden.
