Steps:

1. Carefully remove mullion molding around the broken panel. Use a utility knife to cut through the paint (figure A) and then chisel out the molding (figure B). Note: Check both sides of door, since usually only one side is removable. The removable side will be nailed in, while the other side is part of the frame.

2. Remove the broken glass (figure C) and wrap in newspaper before throwing it away. This makes it safer for anyone who has to handle the garbage bag.
3. Measure for the new panel, allowing 1/16-inch clearance on all sides.

4. Cut the new panel to fit, using a glass cutter and straight edge (figure D). Score the glass on one side, then hang the glass over the edge of the table and snap it (figure E). This leaves a very sharp edge, so handle with care after cutting glass.

5. Place the panel into the opening and caulk around the glass (figure F). Replace the mullion molding to hold in glass (figure G), using caulk (figure H) and wood filler (figure I). Patch and fill the nail holes. Let dry.
6. Tape off glass and paint as desired.
