8 Dude-tastic Man Caves
Rustic and Refined
This man cave is ready to entertain with a home theater and pool table just a few steps from the wine cellar and bar. The term "cave" truly doesn't do justice to this expansive and luxurious space. The large, open-concept room features a sunken screening area with eight leather theater-style seats, a billiard table and well-appointed bar with adjacent wine cellar. Warm, earthy colors and rustic touches like exposed beams and a richly stained beadboard ceiling give the room a decidedly masculine feel.
Rock Star Hangout
Rock 'n' roll reigns supreme in this colorful and cool hangout. Created by real-life guitar hero Dan Leap, this loft is the perfect space to display two of his passions: music and DIY decor. The guitar floor lamp is his patented design, created by disassembling a guitar to insert the electrical components with a mic stand serving as the lamp base. The fins and tail of a classic car create an eye-catching sofa and the white side chair is actually made from a rolling gear box customized with an upholstered back, arms and seat.
Fit for a King
Forget about Dad slaving away at a hot grill engulfed in a cloud of smoke; this alfresco kitchen is a grill king's dream. A top-of-the-line grill and separate smoker offer multiple options for preparing food. Built-in drawers and cabinets provide handy storage and a stone sink with faucet minimizes necessary trips indoors. Concrete countertops, a mosaic tile backsplash and low-voltage pendant lights bring all the luxuries of an indoor kitchen outside.
Far-Out Man Cave
RMSer fritojam scoured local yard sales and flea markets for the bits and pieces to create his out-of-this-world space. It's a sci-fi fan's dream room featuring corrugated metal walls, assorted movie props and a fun, futuristic feel. In his words, this room, which has a clear view of nearby space shuttle launches, is "a great place to display my space junk."
Refreshingly Different Man Cave
Rate My Space user rayscokeroom had a problem: Where to display his massive Coca-Cola collection? So he enclosed a seldom-used screened porch and filled it with memorabilia to create this homage to all things sweet and fizzy. From the green glass-block wall, reminiscent of Coke's original green bottles, to the vintage soda fountain and custom-made logo carpet, this room is such a striking tribute to the beverage brand that photos of it are on permanent display at the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Ga.
B-Ball Fanatic's Haven
Rate My Space user seliason is a serious sports fan. His memorabilia-filled man cave, nicknamed "the Hawk's Nest," is so jam-packed with signed, framed jerseys and autographed shoes, helmets and basketballs that the collection has spilled from the game room into the stairwell leading up to it. Custom-built shelves and framed memorabilia hung gallery-style maximize the display space.
Park your car in the garage? That's crazy talk! Rate My Space user embry28 converted his garage to a nine-seat home theater with a 106-inch movie screen and modern, masculine take on vintage Hollywood style. After all, why pay big bucks for a night at the movies when your favorite flick is playing just a few steps away?
Rate My Space user t206guy transformed a 12'x13' bedroom into a football fanatic's haven. His collection has been acquired over a lifetime: The pennants and curtains are from childhood while the helmets are garage-sale finds, picked up for around $5 each. A salvaged barber's chair creates a comfy (and manly) seat for watching Monday Night Football while the orange folding chairs, souvenirs from the now-demolished Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colo., provide bonus seating for game-time guests.
