These 6 Healthy Foods Are Christina El Moussa's Go-Tos
Here's what Flip or Flop host Christina El Moussa eats almost daily. (Recipes included!)
When you're a busy mom of two with an HGTV show and a full-time flipping business, good nutrition is a must to keep energy levels high. But that got us thinking: What does Flip or Flop's Christina El Moussa eat on an average day? Lots of healthy, delicious foods, that's what! She shares her favorite meals and snacks, including some go-to recipes and tips for prepping ahead of time, below.
1: Blueberry Muffin Overnight Oats
After a cup of coffee with cream and stevia, Christina starts almost every morning with a jar of overnight oats. They're super-easy to prep ahead of time (you can make a week's worth of jars in one day), and they're filling and delicious. She typically flavors her oats with banana and cinnamon, but sometimes throws in berries or peanut butter to mix it up. This "blueberry muffin" version is a delicious variation.
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 8 ounces unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tablespoon toasted almonds
Combine all ingredients except almonds and shake in a pint-sized jar. Refrigerate overnight, then serve with slivered, toasted almonds. Yum!
2: Smoothies and Juices
Christina is a huge smoothie fan — she has a smoothie for lunch or a snack almost every day. To make things easier on busy work or shoot days, she preps her ingredients in advance. "I meal prep my smoothies; I cut up all the ingredients except milk and put in plastic baggies in the freezer or fridge and just throw them and milk in the blender when I'm ready. So it literally takes 5 minutes and I have a full meal."

Another favorite: Green juice. She often builds in a workout on the way to her favorite spot: "My current favorite workout is to push my double stroller to my favorite juice place, which happens to have Taylor's favorite donut and bagel place next door, or the park," Christina says. "It's so heavy and we have really steep hills by my house, so its definitely a good workout!"
3: Berry-Oatmeal Bars
Christina has about two snacks a day, and these berry oatmeal bars are among her favorites. This make-ahead option has no added sugar, and fruit and oats make these bars both filling and tasty.
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup frozen organic raspberries
- 1 cup frozen organic blueberries
- 1 ripe banana
- 2 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray 10x10 casserole dish with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine oats, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and half the berries. Stir well and pour the mixture into casserole dish. Add other half of berries and sliced banana on top of mixture.
In separate bowl combine milk, egg and vanilla. Whisk thoroughly and pour evenly on top of mixture in dish. Bake for 30 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before cutting.

For a mid-day snack, Christina often grabs hummus. Her favorite dippers? Pretzel crisps and cucumbers. (Bonus: Baby Brayden is a hummus fan, too!)
5: Peanut Butter!
"The only thing I really crave is peanut butter...I am obsessed!" Christina admitted in a recent blog post from friend and nutritionist Cara Clark. She loves to snack on rice cakes topped with peanut butter, banana and coconut flakes or hemp seeds.
6: Veggies, Grains + Lean Meats
For lunch or dinner, Christina typically has a serving of lean meat or fish with a veggie and a grain. During busy Flip or Flop shoot weeks, the El Moussas often have a meal-prep service deliver healthy meals to the set, like this salmon-topped salad.
