3 Creative Pumpkin Projects to Copy This Fall

Because pumpkins like to play dress up, too.

As part of the Made + Remade Blogger Challenge, a few of our favorite crafters went head-to-head in a craft pumpkin decorating challenge. Using only craft pumpkins and items they could find at the craft store, these talented DIYers came up with some seriously creative ideas. Take a look:

Emoji Inspired

Bruce Cole

Make It: Laura James, assistant editor for HGTV.com and DIYNetwork.com, stayed perfectly on trend with a pair of adorable emoji-style craft pumpkins. To make sure she never gets tired of the look, she attached a few small magnetic strips to her pumpkins. She then added magnets to the back of each facial feature for endless expressions.

Stage It: Bring a traditional harvest look to mod emoji pumpkins with a small hay bale. It's the perfect way to elevate your masterpieces.

Ultra-Tiny Houses

Make It: HGTV.com and DIYNetwork.com editor Jackie McGilvray took tiny homes to a whole new level with her charming fairy village. Petite toys, dollhouse accessories and a few finds from her own backyard made this project as easy to make as it is adorable.

Stage It: Don't limit your pumpkins to just the porch; this sweet fairy village looks right at home nestled on a garden walkway or among some greenery.

Picture Perfect

Make It: Considering she’s a designer for HGTV.com and DIYNetwork.com, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Hannah Slaughter had a few tricks up her sleeve. She transferred an eerie image onto a once-white craft pumpkin for a spooky look that really stands out. To get the look, simply use decoupage glue and a photocopy of your favorite design to attach right onto your pumpkin.

Stage It: Do you really want to spook things up? Decorate your mantel with a mix of antique candlesticks, vintage hardback books, dried flowers and your eerie pumpkin creation.

We’re so excited about these fun pumpkin projects! Boo it yourself and save on supplies at Michaels, including craft pumpkins in six colors and seven shapes and sizes. Find ideas and inspiration at michaels.com/halloween. #MadeWithMichaels
